ELON AND HIS FATHER

 Elon Musk and his father, Errol Musk, have had a famously strained relationship, marked by years of public tension and estrangement. However, there are hints of a possible reconciliation in recent times, though the extent and nature of it remain unclear. In 2024, reports surfaced of a rare public interaction where Errol hugged Elon at a SpaceX event, suggesting a thaw in their icy dynamic. Errol has also expressed pride in Elon’s accomplishments in interviews, such as one with Al Arabiya News in November 2024, where he praised Elon’s suitability for his government role while emphasizing his son’s focus on business. Despite this, Elon has historically been vocal about his father’s negative influence, once calling him a “terrible human being” in a 2017 Rolling Stone interview and detailing a difficult childhood. Errol, for his part, has downplayed the rift, claiming in 2022 to The Sun that they stay in touch, though Elon has not confirmed this. The evidence points to a complicated, evolving relationship with sporadic moments of warmth, but no definitive, full reconciliation has been publicly established as of April 5, 2025.

As for Errol representing Elon’s business interests, there’s no indication of this. Elon’s empire—spanning Tesla, SpaceX, X, and more—is managed by him and a tight circle of trusted executives and advisors, with no involvement from Errol. Errol, a former engineer and businessman, has his own past ventures, including a controversial claim of owning a stake in a Zambian emerald mine (which Elon disputes). Today, Errol’s financial situation appears diminished, with Elon stating in a 2022 tweet that he and his brother Kimbal have supported their father since the 1990s after he “ran out of money.” Errol has no known role in Elon’s companies, and their interactions seem personal rather than professional.
